Construction

Frame, ledged and braced pedestrian gate constructed using a 50x95mm (Planed Finished Size) perimeter frame and 32x92mm (Planed Finished Size) rails and bracing. Clad with 25x125mm (19x120mm Planed Finished Size) secret nail matchboard. Made from Scandinavian Pine or Spruce.

Maintenance

To maintain and preserve the appearance of your gates, we recommend using one of our specialist fencing timber treatments.

Please Note

These gates are manufactured from joinery grade softwood. Every effort is taken to ensure that the timber selected for the manufacture of these products are free from defects, but natural characteristics of softwood timber are likely to be present, including knots and shakes (splits running along the grain of the timber).

The extent of these characteristics will vary throughout the year depending on the climatic conditions, becoming more pronounced in hot / dry weather, and less pronounced during colder / wetter weather. This is an entirely natural and expected occurrence and does not affect the integrity of the product. Timber is naturally hygroscopic, meaning it reacts to moisture in the air. This will cause it to move, shrink, and swell depending on current moisture levels and is entirely expected. Some adjustment of the gates may be needed, particularly during extended periods of very wet or very dry weather.

These gates will require regular treatment by the customer using a suitable exterior joinery softwood treatment (fencing treatments are ineffective for this type of application). Whilst not eliminating it, this will help to reduce the amount of movement throughout the year.
