Choosing the right shed for you
How can you be sure you're picking the right shed for your own storage needs? And how can you avoid the usual risks of…
Trellises are a wonderful way to add structure, height, and variety to your garden. Many climbing plants, like roses, require additional support so trellis provides a practical solution to do this without compromising on design. They can also add height without blocking light, making them ideal for creating separate zones or enclosures in your garden.
It’s surprisingly simple. Most trellis panels can be screwed through the vertical side batten, directly into the post using wood screws. This is the most secure (and easiest) method.
Simply:
• select a wood screw of an appropriate length – measure it against the width of the trellis slat, and into the fence post, accounting for a small gap in between the two
• align the trellis with the fence post – you will likely need assistance to keep it straight – then simply drill the screw through the outer trellis slat and into the fence post. If preferred, you can drill pilot holes first to make the job simpler. A screw near the top and a second near the bottom should suffice.
A panel bracket is an alternative option but is only necessary if the type of trellis panel you have isn’t suitable for screwing directly into the post. If appropriate, a Z bracket is the one to use.
At Walford Timber, our beautifully designed trellis panels are available with square and diamond lattice effects. We also offer convex or concave shaped panels and fans that create a feature to enhance the appearance of your garden.
Inspired to make a change? If it’s time for an upgrade, why not switch out your panels and go for one with an integrated trellis top?
If your fence panels aren’t tall enough for a trellis, you may be interested in adding a decorative trellis topper. This allows you to add height and get all the benefits of a trellis, without impacting your existing fencing. You will need to consider the height of the fence posts to accommodate the extra panelling, and may need a post extension, or replacement to make the change.
At Walford Timber, we offer bespoke sizes of trellis panels. There is no need to compromise on design, because every fence panel is manufactured by us to the same high quality. If you are interested in made-to-measure fence panels, simply contact out expert team on 01989 563614.
