This is a full-time permanent position, starting with immediate effect. It is a customer-facing role in our busy timber yard near Ross-on-Wye.
You will be required to load customers with the products they have purchased. Products are picked from a picking note while the customer waits and loading of vehicles is done by both hand and forklift depending on what is appropriate.
You will be required to liaise between the sales staff and the customer’s, so a pleasant and helpful manner is very important, as well as being presentable at all times.
Other duties include picking orders from a picking note, showing customers products prior to purchase, maintaining and replenishing stock levels, as well as keeping the retail yard, display areas and car park tidy, presentable and safe.
You will be using both a counterbalance forklift and a sideloader and previous experience of either of these is beneficial, although training will be given. You must also be comfortable reading quantities and dimensions on order sheets, as well as using a tape measure accurately.

Performance will be judged on:
- Manner with which customer is dealt and customer feedback.
- Speed of customer turnaround.
- Accurate use of picking note to ensure the customer gets exactly what has been ordered.
- Adequate stocks maintained in the yard.
- Tidiness of yard.
- Safe working practices.
You will also be expected to work as part of a team and follow instructions from your supervisor.
This can be a demanding role particularly during the spring and summer months and will suit someone who likes to keep busy and enjoys interaction with customers and staff alike, as well as working outside.
Working hours are 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 12pm Saturdays. Hourly rate to be negotiated based on experience, basic rate paid for first 39 hours of each week and time and a half paid for any hours worked over 39.
Annual leave entitlement is 20 days per annum plus statutory days during the first year of service, 21 days during the second year and 22 days from the third year onwards.
